This was an awful Bond-comedy. I only managed to get halfway through the movie, before falling asleep.

The cast is different to what we deem usual for a Bond-movie: Sir James Bond – David Niven; Miss Moneypenny – Barbara Bouchet; Vesper Lynd – Ursula Andress; Le Chiffre – Orson Welles

Casino Royale was not part of the official James Bond franchise but rather a comedy loosely based on Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel.

Ursula Andress who already played Honey Ryder in Dr. No appears in Casino Royale as Vesper Lynd.

Bond, you have to leave retirement behind and come back as a number of agents have been eliminated by enemy spies.

Absolutely the worst Bond movie ever official or otherwise. I couldn't agree more with your assessment. Multi-star cast with a soundtrack by Burt Bacharach but a complete flop

Quite a short trip up to Scotland for this one...but where precisely? The setting for M's family residence was a fictitious Scottish Castle. The locations for filming didn't help as the castle featured was actually Killeen Castle, Dunsany, Co Meath in the Republic of Ireland, with some of the car chase scenes filmed in and around the Perthshire village of Killin. This part of Perthshire has proved popular with movie makers as nearby Glen Lochay was the location for the finale of Alfred Hitchcock's 'The 39 Steps'. Tomnadashan is an abandoned copper mine better know to Monty Python fans as the Cave of Caerbannog - home to a particularly savage white rabbit in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'.

In the end I decided as M's home was somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland the chosen destination would be the unofficial capital of the Highlands, Inverness...
