EDDL/DUS Düsseldorf spotting 2017

Recommended Posts

Hello Tigers, it's me again !

This time I went to Germany to Düsseldorf, and I really enjoyed it great spotting locations, although the airport terrace was closed due to a shortage of security personnel, I still had a great time.

Enjoy !

Unfortunately I was not able to do a lot of pictures from this location since the sun faded away behind a huge storm ... but there is definitely potential here !

Amazing catches

Seeing the first photos I was wondering how you got that good weather at DUS. But later I saw you wrote about the storm

Thank you ! I am glad you guys enjoy them !

All of the pictures you see here were taken with my EOS 1Ds Mark III and my 500 f/4L IS, first version ; except for the two face shots, that were taken with an EOS 7D Mark II, the 500 f/4 lens and a 1.4 extender. My secondary lens is a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC.

I use Adobe Lightroom as development and catalog software.

I own other cameras and lenses but did not use them here.

Great compositions Guillaume!

Do you send them to any aviation photography site?

Thank you all again !

Do you send them to any aviation photography site?

I used to send them on JP and A.net but most of the screeners there are anal retentive, so I quit sending about seven years ago.

Thinking, you are never served better than by yourself, I started my own aviation photos and news website with a few friends about 10 years ago. Our screening criterias are wider and as a screener I am always happy to help those who have difficulties with editing and photographing. It is not the best website, nor the most famous, but it is the one that corresponds better to what I like about photography.

In the end, Flickr remains where I can put whatever I want and I really enjoy looking at others gallery. The ambiance is so much better between photographers on Flickr.

They got fed up about those jury pricks.

Just great .... love looking at all your shots mate  . I'm afraid my local airport is quite rural, half airbase with about 4 trainers and a hand full of flights a day on the domestic side. :paperbag:

Lovely collection! It will be sad to see the Air Berlin birds disappearing from the skies. I remember in the late 90s/early 2000s that LTU started longhauls from DUS to New York, LA and Bangkok, I was so excited to see these long haul birds sitting at the gates. It is good to see all those Asian airlines flying to DUS now, but also after the closure of Lufthansa's longhaul flights, I hope another German airline will continue longhauls from DUS.

Great pictures from my home airport!

Beginning in November Condor and Eurowings will take over the former AB routes to the caribbean. But sadly Cathay Pacific will cancel their flights in march 2018.

Thank you again guys !

There is only one Lufthansa longhaul route to EWR using a 333. Most of the transatlantic flights are flown by Air Berlin, the sole US operator is Delta with 767s. There are a few flights to Asia with Cathay, Singapore, and ANA, and the usual Emirates, Etihad and Turkish heavies that fly to many European airports. Surprisingly there are no Qatar flights though, but there is Mahan Air with a 340 to Iran.
